چکیده

Micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC), which can separate neutral analytes as well as charged analytes by the capillary electrophoretic technique, was developed in 1982 and the first paper was published in 1984. The authors’ group concentrated their effort into the characterization of MEKC as a separation technique until early 1990s. Most issues in MEKC separations were successfully solved and wide applicability of MEKC was verified in 1990s. In particular, sweeping, an on-line sample preconcentration technique, was very successful for the concentration of neutral analyte as well as ionic ones. In this paper, our studies on MEKC will be summarized from the personal viewpoint of the author.

Modeling The Capacity Factor of Analytes in Micellar Electrokinetic Chromatography Using Computational Descriptors

A multiple linear regression model is proposed to calculate capacity factor of  analytes using structural features computed using HyperChem software. The  chemical descriptors of analytes were computed using HyperChem software and  regressed against the experimental capacity factors of analytes collected from the  literature. The absolute average percentage deviation (AARD) and individua...

Classification of Maojian teas from different geographical origins by micellar electrokinetic chromatography and pattern recognition techniques.

A micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) method was applied for the identification of geographical origins of Chinese green teas. Under the optimized conditions, chromatographic profiling of collected Maojian tea samples was obtained. Based on MEKC-UV profiling, twenty-four tea samples were successfully differentiated according to the relative peak areas of selected peaks in the chromato...

Migration behaviour of monovalent weak acids in micellar electrokinetic chromatography Mobility model versus retention model

Migration of charged compounds in micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) is based on micellar solubilization as well as electrophoretic migration. Consequently, the migration behaviour of these compounds can be described with a retention model or a mobility model. Both models are discussed and evaluated for the migration behaviour of monovalent weak acids in a sodium dodecyl sulphate mic...

Principles of micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography applied in pharmaceutical analysis.

Since its introduction capillary electrophoresis has shown great potential in areas where electrophoretic techniques have rarely been used before, including here the analysis of pharmaceutical substances. The large majority of pharmaceutical substances are neutral from electrophoretic point of view, consequently separations by the classic capillary zone electrophoresis; where separation is base...

Biomedical Evaluation of Cortisol, Cortisone, and Corticosterone along with Testosterone and Epitestosterone Applying Micellar Electrokinetic Chromatography

The validated micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) was proposed for the determination of five steroid hormones in human urine samples. That technique allowed for the separation and quantification of cortisol, cortisone, corticosterone, testosterone, and epitestosterone and was sensitive enough to detect low concentrations of these searched steroids in urine samples at the range of 2-30...
